‘Hungry as ever’ Serena Williams says will be only satisfied if wins in every ‘big’ tournament

London, Aug 7 (ANI): World No.1 Serena Williams is reportedly ‘hungry as ever’ for more success, saying that she will be satisfied only if she wins every big tournament that she enters.

According to the Independent, Williams, who is the first player to qualify for the season-ending Women’s Tennis Association Championships and has already won seven titles this year, suffered surprisingly early defeats in the two other Grand Slam tournaments, losing to Sloane Stephens at the Australian Open and Sabine Lisicki at Wimbledon.

However, the report said that the American star, who claimed her second French Open title two months ago, quickly returned to winning ways last month, landing a clay-court title in Sweden without dropping a set, and now has her sights set on retaining her US Open title.

As she readies herself for her first appearance of the North American hard-court season in Toronto, the 16-time Grand Slam winner said that she has not yet attained total success with the way her year has gone, adding that she has worked very hard to do the best, especially in Grand Slams.

Stating that she was enjoying her tennis more than ever this year, Williams said that what makes tennis beautiful are the small tournaments that make a player and prepare him/her for winning the Grand Slams, adding that she loves tennis so much that she will not stop playing until a long time. (ANI)
