Mumbai, Aug 5 (): Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has surpassed Rs 100 crore mark in the fourth weekend and has become the third movie to join the elite club after Race 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in the year 2013. The film has achieved this milestone on 24th day of its run in cinemas.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced the news in his twitter page. He tweeted, “#BhaagMilkhaBhaag has crossed the Rs 100 cr mark in its fourth weekend. Emerged the second biggest grosser of 2013 thus far, after #YJHD”.
The film critic also wrote the break-up for the movie in its fourth weekend. “#BhaagMilkhaBhaag Weekend 4: Fri 1.3 cr, Sat 2.6 cr, Sun *est* 3 cr. Total: Rs 104 cr. Overall, Super Hit. Blockbuster in North circuits.”
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the biopic movie opened to an average response with its occupancy ranging between 40% and 45%, but picked up very well over the weekend and maintained a rock steady performance in the following weeks.
Several states across India have declared tax-free status to Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The film is running tax-free in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana and Goa.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag collected Rs 53.35 crores nett in the first week, Rs 27.9 crores nett in the second week and Rs 14.85 crores in the third week.
Having showed an unstoppable collection at the Indian box office, the Farhan Akhtar starrer has remained the first choice of movie-goers for the fourth consecutive week. The film added more than 5 crore over its fourth weekend, taking its 24-day-total to around Rs 104 crore.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is the third film of this year to enter the 100 crore club, the first two being Race 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The film is Farhan Akhtar’s first in the club, besides his directorial Don 2 which also reached the 100 crore mark.
