Mumbai, Aug 4 (): Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan’s much-awaited Chennai Express is in line for a strong release in some new, non-traditional international markets. In seven international markets, it is said to be the first Bollywood movie to release on the same day as it opens on theatres in India on August 9.
The seven unfamiliar non-traditional international markets includes Peru, Germany, Morocco, Switzerland, Austria, France and Israel.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “UTV giving really wide release to #ChennaiExpress. Will also release in Morocco, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and Israel”.
Amrita Pandey, executive director (Syndication, International Distribution and Disney Media Distribution), Studios, Disney UTV, said in a statement Shahrukh Khan has a strong fan base and the demand for the movie is enormous overseas. She added that they were releasing the movie in over seven non-traditional markets and the movie would also witness a day and date release for the first time in Peru for any Hindi film.
Previously, Bollywood films like Shahrukh’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Guzaarish’ have opened as delayed releases in Peru. But ‘Chennai Express’ is making a breakthrough.
Taran tweeted, “#ChennaiExpress will also have day and date release in Peru”.
The number of screens in which the movie will be released on August 9 is expected to increase. Taran tweeted, “Those asking about #ChennaiExpress screen count in India and Overseas, it’s a bit early to comment. It could turn out to be highest ever!”
Chennai Express also features Deepika Padukone and it is being heavily promoted all across the country and also in few important international markets like UK and Dubai.
Rohit Shetty’s directorial film will also have the biggest ever release in the UK markets. The romantic comedy movie will be screened across 125 theatres and around 170 screens.
Chennai Express will be released worldwide on 9 August on the occasion of Eid festival.
