Kolkata, July 30 (): An overjoyed West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday appeared to be jubilant after her party’s victory in panchayat elections indicating the party to perform still better in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Dedicating the victory to the people of West Bengal , Mamata Banerjee told that her party will certainly play a crucial role in formation of gram panchayat and panchayat samities in all those places where opposition appears to be in top form.
Talking to media, Mamata at Writers’ Buildings told that her party was successful to capture 13 zilla parishads till now and was fighting remarkably in two other districts as well. Coming down heavily on the state election commission, the Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the election commissioner who was appointed by the CPM. Mamata also expressed concern over imposing prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC and deploying of central forces in the state.
Reports said it was expected Mamata’s Trinamool to win in 13 districts including Nadia, Howrah, Cooch Behar, West Midnapore, Bankura, Burdwan, South Dinajpur, East Midnapore, Birbhum, North 24-Parganas, South 24-Parganas and Hooghly.
While the CPM and the Left parties expected to win zilla parishads of North Dinajpur and Jalpaiguri, the Congress might capture Murshidabad zilla parishad. In Malda, none of the political parties got the majority. The Congress which bagged 41 gram panchayat seats was followed by the Left who bagged 40 seats. The Trinamool however was able to achieve just 11 gram panchayats here, said sources.
Calling the success as a victory of the people and democracy, Mamata conveyed her gratitude to all those hearts who came out and cast their votes. Admiring her party’s remarkable victory Mamata said that her party would clinch 75% of the votes and win in 13 districts while the Congress and the CPM are likely to grab one each.
