BJP to announce poll team on Friday

New Delhi, July 19 (): Focusing on various issues including electioneering and arranging rallies, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which gears up to face the Lok Sabha elections is likely to announce poll-related functional responsibilities for its senior leaders on Friday.

The Parliamentary Board which met on Thursday in the presence of senior leader L K Advani organized a two-hour meeting over the allocation of tasks among party general secretaries and other senior leaders ahead of the general elections next year. However, names were not discussed in the meeting as party president Rajnath Singh will confirm before making the announcement, said party spokesperson.

The panel is being arranged to support BJP’s national campaign committee chairman Narendra Modi who also took part in two hour long meeting. Various aspects of elections including scheme, campaign, travelling, exposures as well as sorting out with other political parties would be handled by the team which will soon be announced by the BJP, said party spokesperson.

The BJP parliamentary board is expected to take on the ruling Congress in the monsoon session of Parliament. Sources said that the party has planned to take up the functioning of CBI and IB, especially in the Ishrat Jahan case. Besides,  the party will also focus on other issues such as the Uttarakhand, food security bill, state of economy as well as the ongoing corruptions of the UPA government.

The BJP is also expected to redeem on the conversation bringing the Gujarat chief minister to centre stage after the recent controversy between the BJP and the Congress.

Modi who sat next to LK Advani during the meeting of the parliamentary board met the veteran leader separately after the meeting and sought his blessings. The parliamentary board, the highest decision making body of BJP has been meeting frequently over the past three weeks, said sources.

The BJP is expected to take up the matter of Food Security Ordinance and the state of economy as major issues in the session.
