Tri-series : India vs Sri Lanka- Preview, Points Table

Port of Spain, July 9 (): India faces Sri Lanka in the 6th Match of the Tri-Nation Series, 2013 played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on July 9, Tuesday at 19:00 IST.

Points Table:

Team Played Won Tie NR Lost Points NRR
Sri Lanka 3 2 0 0 1 9 1.019
West Indies 4 2 0 0 2 9 -0.383
India 3 1 0 0 2 5 -0.524

India have to play with full potential when they meet Sri Lanka in this last must-win league match to keep their hopes alive of making it to the final of the tri-nation ODI series. A win will ensure India better run-rate than the West Indies, which will allow them to ease their way to the final.

After losing two of the three matches they have played so far, Virat Kohli’s team would need to be clear about the way they have to play in this final league clash against the familiar rivals. When both the team met last time, the islanders crushed their neighbours with enormous ease.

The bowling line looks promising as Bhuvneshwar Kumar troubled the big Jamaican Chris Gayle in their previous encounter. He and Umesh Yadav picked up three wickets, with Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja bagging two wickets each.

The batting line too looks dominating with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma putting up a hundred run stand in their previous match.

Probable XI:

India: 1 Shikhar Dhawan, 2 Rohit Sharma, 3 Virat Kohli (capt), 4 Suresh Raina, 5 Dinesh Karthik (wk), 6 Murali Vijay, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Ravichandran Ashwin, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Umesh Yadav.

Sri Lanka

Batting does not seem any concern for the Lankans as hundreds from Upul Tharanga and Mahela Jayawardene and a decisive 90 runs from Kumar Sangakkara in the previous game has set their form perfectly.

On their bowling line-up, Rangana Herath and Sachitra Senanayake have troubled the batsmen on tricky West Indian conditions. Angelo Mathews’ four-wicket haul and Shaminda Eranga’s three wickets in the last game were added bonus and this would help a great deal against a formidable Indian batting line-up.

Probable XI:

Sri Lanka: 1 Upul Tharanga, 2 Mahela Jayawardene, 3 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 4 Dinesh Chandimal, 5 Lahiru Thirimanne, 6 Angelo Mathews (capt), 7 Jeevan Mendis, 8 Nuwan Kulasekara, 9 Sachitra Senanayake, 10 Lasith Malinga, 11 Shaminda Eranga.
