Chennai, July 2 (): AR Rahman, the musical genius and double Oscar-winning composer lives through his beautiful and memorable moments in his career which he spent with singers through the years in a new coffee table book, ‘Reflections’ authored by celebrity photographer T Selvakumar.
‘Reflections’ brings to light the tributes paid by the leading singers to the Mozart of Madras.
T Selvakumar, the author of the book, said in a statement that Reflections is a tribute by AR Rahman to singers who have influenced his music. It is also a heart-warming tribute by the singers to the composer, the special man who shared with them his unique and compassionate style of working and who helped them to tap into and discover musical potential which sometimes even they didn’t know they possessed.
‘Reflections’ will hit the book-stands from July. The book carried Foreword by AR Rahman; he fondly recollects his emergence as a composer. It is published by Audio Media Inc. The proceeds from the sales of book will go to support the charitable activities of A. R. Rahman Foundation.
Touched by the book, Rahman said that twenty years after his first film, he is pausing to reflect on the people who have contributed so richly to his music. He felt happy that these wonderful individuals have been so beautifully photographed by Selva.
Rahman added that through arduous long nights and day-long rehearsals and recordings, his half-sleepy and tired, unassuming and self-effacing musicians and colleagues stood tall by him, sharing and celebrating his success.
