Mumbai, June 13 (): The much-awaited movies of this year Chennai Express and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again (OUATIMA) were previously slated to release on August 8 for Eid. But, now the Eid clash has been stopped.
The latest news says Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Motion Pictures has postponed the release of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again to August 15, which is a national holiday and the makers are likely to draw in a lot of audiences on that day.
Meantime, Chennai Express directed by Rohit Shetty will stick on to the scheduled date, of release, August 8.
Both the films belong to different genres. Chennai Express is a full masala movie with romance, comedy and action, whereas OUATIMA is an underworld drama about two gangsters. While Chennai Express has Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, OUATIMA features Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles.
Even though both the movies are of different genres, the teams of Chennai Express and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again have been in touch with each other and planned to release the movies on different dates, so that the box office collections of both the movies remain unaffected.
Nearly for three months, the makers of the movies had many meetings and a lot of discussions. Finally, Ekta has decided to shift the release date of her ambitious film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again.
Sources very close to Balaji say, a representation was made from the makers and stake holders of Chennai Express to Jeetendra, requesting him to reconsider the release date keeping in mind the result for both the films. The veteran actor spoke to the Balaji team to do the needful to prevent the clash.
At the same time, Prakash Jha’s film Satyagraha releases on August 23 and John Abraham’s Madras Cafe releases on August 30.
