Mumbai, June 10 () :Within a short period of just a week of its bumper launch, the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has crossed Rs. 100 crore mark.
Ayan Mukherji-directed and Karan Johar-produced YJHD continued running to jam-packed houses across India after a massive opening of Rs. 19.45 crore, and an opening weekend saw a collection of Rs 62.11 crore.
The youthful passionate entertainer which was released on May 31 saw audience getting excited either love-struck or by sheer word of mouth appreciation after watching the movie’s fun and playful trailer.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “100 crore, and still counting”.
With its well-matched lead couple, awesome photography in snow-laden mountains, frisky music and stirring dance movements, the movie has won several hearts including youth and elders alike.
The film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani casting Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone has been hitting the box office the day it was released and has collected a whopping Rs 98.11 crore breaking the record of Salman Khan.
Ayan Mukherji’s second movie, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was most expected to enter 100 crore club after releasing on Friday with an earning of Rs 19.45 crore on the opening day, slowly moving to Rs 20.16 crore the next day and peaking on Sunday to Rs 22.5 crore, bringing the weekend collection to Rs 62.11 crore.
The film Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani is a romantic comedy. While Deepika Padukone depicts a girl who is studious and bespectacled and one who does not prefer drinking, smoking and kissing. ranbir Kapoor plays a boy who is an outrageous flirt. After love blooms between both, they get parted one day and then reunite.
“Ranbir Kapoor is not just a star, he is a superstar now,” trade analyst Vajir Singh commented.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is the first film to cross Rs.100 crore mark within just a week of its release.
