IIT-JEE Main 2013 cut-offs, key information

May 29 (): IIT aspirants who have scored over 78.2% in their class 12 CBSE exam this year and have made it to the final round of the JEE examination have a chance of getting into the prestigious institutes across the country.

According to CBSE, the cut off scores for the top 20 percentile are as below:

General stream : 391

OBC : 389

SC    : 350

ST    : 338 

JEE Advanced (pen & paper test) test will be conducted on Sunday, June 2. Results will be declared on 23rd June,2013.

CBSE also asks all the candidates who appeared for  JEE (Main) 2013, to immediately update class 12th/Qualifying Examination information on the JEE website http://jeemain.nic.in through link, “Confirmation of class 12/Qualifying Examination Details” by selecting Board, Year of passing and Roll No., failing which it will be treated as they do not have valid details about their class 12/Qualifying examination.

On failing to provide such details, the student’s ranking will be decided suitably by the JEE Apex Board without any further notice. The last date of confirming/updating such details is 4th June 2013.

The all-new JEE two-tier format comprises the following:

Tier 1 – JEE Main (conducted by CBSE)

Tier 2 – JEE  Advanced (conducted by IIT)

Only the top 1.5 lakh students from the JEE Main exam merit list can sit for the JEE Advanced entrance exam. IIT merit list will be prepared taking into account the top 20 per cent students of each state board and advanced exam marks scored by each aspirant. Admissions to the centrally funded institutes like IITs and NITs are based on a combined score of the JEE Main 2013 marks (60%) and the Class XII marks (40%).

The 15 IITs are in New Delhi, Kanpur, Mumbai, Kharagpur, Chennai, Roorkee, Guwahati, Rajasthan, Gandhi Nagar, Patna, Hyderabad, Ropar, Mandi, Bhubaneshwar and Indore.
