Mumbai, May 4 (): The box office collections of John Abraham starrer Shootout At Wadala (SAW) on its opening day were great, collecting Rs 10.10 crores nett.
Shootout at Wadala (SAW), produced by Sanjay Gupta, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor is directed by Sanjay Gupta. The movie is a sequel to the 2007 film “Shootout At Lokhandwala” starring Sanjay Dutt and Vivek Oberoi and is based on the book ‘Dongri to Dubai’ written by Hussain Zaidi.
SAW features John Abraham, Kangna Ranaut, Anil Kapoor, Tushar Kapoor and Sonu Sood in the lead roles. The movie has three different item songs starring Sunny Leone in ‘Laila Tere Le Legi’ , Priyanka Chopra in ‘Babli Badmaash’ and Sopiya Choudhary in ‘Aala re aala’.
The movie was released on May 3 in 2200 screens in India and reports say the movie witnessed 65-70% occupancy in single screens. The film did better in single screens than in multiplexes. The film made a collection of Rs 10.1 crore at the domestic box office on the day of its release. Trade analysts describe that it is a record breaking opening for Shootout At Wadala.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh teweeted, “#ShootoutAtWadala morning shows occupancy is 60% to 70%. Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Indore, parts of Delhi, UP circuit… Very good! Fri ₹10.1 cr… Amongst the top openers of the year!”
SAW has emerged as one of the biggest openers this year after “Himmatwala” and “Race 2″. “Race 2″ collected 15.12 crore and “Himmatwala” raked in 12 crore respectively on the first day at domestic box offices.
SAW has received positive reviews from critics. Most of the critics have praised the performances of the actors especially John Abraham and Anil Kapoor. IMBD website has given the movie a rating of three out of five.
The collections are likely to rise on its second day and third day at box office.
Shootout At Wadala will be another big super hit movie of the year.
