Mumbai, May 4 (): Box office collection of the musical drama Aashiqui 2 in its first week is magnificent, after the movie collected approximately Rs 39 crore in the domestic market.

Despite facing tough competition along with the Hollywood superhero film Iron Man 3 and the ongoing IPL cricket matches, the film has managed to perform well at all centres. The collection figures on all seven days of the week were fascinating.

As per reports given in Boxoffice capsule, the break-up for the first week collections of Aashiqui 2 is as follows:

Friday — 6.25 cr, Saturday — 6.75 cr, Sunday — 7.50 cr, Monday — 4.25 cr, Tuesday — 4.20 cr, Wednesday — 5.80 cr and Thursday — 3.95 cr. The total domestic collections for the first week is 38.75 cr.

The film did an amazing business in the first weekend by earning Rs 20.5 crore and had maintained a strong position on weekdays by collecting around Rs18-Rs19 crore.

Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Aashiqui2 collected approx. ₹38/39 cr nett in Week 1″.

Taran also tweeted, “#Aashiqui2 is unstoppable. In a circuit like CI, the Tue biz is better than Mon. Fri Rs 24 lakh, Sat Rs 23 lakh, Sun Rs 32.25 lakh, Mon Rs 18.25 lakh, Tue Rs 20 lakh. Aashiqui2 continues to surprise… In some circuits, Tue was better than Mon… And Wed was better than Mon and Tue… Superb!”.

The collection of the film on Wednesday in some circuits was much higher than that of Monday and Tuesday due to May Day, a holiday.

Experts predict if the movie manages to get an average occupancy in this weekend then they say surely Aashiqui 2 will cross 50 crores in collection. The film will face competition with the mega release of “Shootout At Wadala” in the 2nd week.

A remake of 1990 hit, Aashiqui 2 grasped the attention of the audience after the release of the song Tum hi ho, a romantic number with meaningful lyrics, which got over 1,852,947 hits on YouTube within 10 days of its launch.
