After setting a target of 188 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore restricted Pune Warriors India to 170/9 to clinch a 17-run victory in IPL 6 match at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune.
Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat against Pune Warriors India. Initially, Bangalore suffered when Gayle was dismissed by T Suman. Gayle (21) was caught by Bhuvneshwar Kumar off the bowling of Suman.
Losing Chris Gayle at an early stage, Saurabh Tiwary and Kohli joined to put up a 63-run partnership for the second wicket to place RCB in good position.
In Pune innings, Robin Uthappa’s wonderful show of 75 off 45 balls with five boundaries and as many towering sixes was encouraging. Pune suffered another blow when they lost Tirumalasetti Suman, who got run-out by Muttiah Muralitharan. The continuous fall after Mathews made Pune Warriors India go downhill, replying with 170 for nine in 20 overs to lose by 17 runs.
