PGA Tour drops ‘deer antler spray’ case against Vijay Singh

Sydney, May 1 (ANI): The PGA Tour has decided to drop the case against Fijian golfer Vijay Singh for using deer antler spray, adding that he no longer faces any sanction.

PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem has said that according to new data from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), using deer antler spray was no longer considered prohibited, News.com.au reports.

Although Singh confirmed that the spray Singh used contained IGF-1, an insulin-like growth hormone that is on the tour’s list of banned substances, he added that based on WADA’s position, it would not be fair for the tour to consider Singh in violation of the drug policy

Singh was appealing against tour sanctions under the anti-doping policy when WADA clarified its position, the report added.

The three-times Major champion had confessed in January that he had unknowingly used a banned substance contained in a deer antler spray. (ANI)
