Ex-Kiwi player Michael Mason deny reports of replacing ‘injured’ Harris in IPL

Wellington, May 1 (ANI): Former New Zealand pace bowler Michael Mason has denied reports that he will be replacing injured Australian Ryan Harris in the Kings XI Punjab team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

According to numerous media reports, the domestic team Manawatu coach was on his way to Mohali, Punjab to replace Harris in the IPL, Stuff.co.nz reports.

Dismissing the reports, Mason said that the report was a mistake which had quickly gone viral and joked that he had been denuded by phone calls and text messages from people wanting to verify the report, adding that such a situation had not even happened to him on April Fool’s Day also.

According to the report, Mason’s name was mixed up with that of South African cricketer Michael Neser.

According to Mason, although he is somewhat interested in playing in the IPL, he is not ready to take such a challenge at this point of time, adding that he is still doing well after his retirement.

Instead of playing in the IPL, Mason had been taking part this week in a development conference in Palmerston North with most of the coaches from New Zealand’s Central Districts, the report added. (ANI)
