Kolkata, Apr 29 () : Chit fund companies in Bengal pay Shah Rukh Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Sharmila Tagore and her daughter. As reported yesterday, thirty percent of Bengali movies is funded by chit funds. Kolkata Knight Riders’ lead sponsor is a chit company.
Rose valley, a chit fund in Bengal is the lead sponsor of IPL team owned by SRK’s Kolkata Knight Riders. With international cricketers, Rose Valley gets a credibility that is much more than its stature. Every year, Rose Valley pays Rs 5.5 crore as sponsorship to SRK. This is a two-year deal.
Chit fund companies’ love for SRK does not stop with Rose Valley. Prayag group, another chit fund company has SRK in the TV advertisements promoting its Prayag Film city. Soha Ali Khan and her mother Sharmila Tagore endorse a biscuit brand owned by Prayag Group.
In Saradha’s Sudipta Sen’s 18-page letter to CBI, Bengali actor and ageing star Mithun Chakrabarty was paid Rs 20 lakh a month for promotion of Saradha Group. Actress and TMC MP Shatabdi Ray was also one of stars for Saradha. Sudipta also named Nalini Chidambaram of having been paid Rs 1 crore as lawyer fees for `due diligence’ for a TV channel that a TMC MP wanted to float.
Ironicall, the so-called hard hitting TV channels have so far referred to Nalini as wife of Congress Union Minister and not named her husband.
