Bombay Talkies : Bollywood celebrities attend special screening

Mumbai, Apr 28 (): Bombay Talkies, a film directed by four leading directors of Bollywood to mark the 100 years of Indian cinema, was screened in Mumbai on Friday.

The special screening was held at Light Box in Santacruz, Mumbai on Friday night. The screening was attended by Bollywood celebrities like Randeep Hooda, Ranveer Singh, Gauri Shinde, Abhishek Kapoor, Punit Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Ritesh Sidwani, Kalki Koechlin and Sonam Kapoor.

Veteran writer Javed Akhtar and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap also turned for the special screening of Bombay Talkies.

Bombay Talkies will also have a gala screening at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival that starts on May 15 and India is the guest country for the film festival this year.

Bombay Talkies stars Rani Mukerji, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Randeep Hooda along with Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan doing a special appearance. The movie that comprises four stories is directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar and Dibakar Banerjee.

Each director has helmed a short film and they have put all the four short films together as one mega offering. Speaking on the special screening occasion, director Kunal Kohli said that Indian cinema has progressed a lot in the last 100 years but a lot more progress is still required.

Johar appreciated the efforts of the four directors to mark the centenary of Indian cinema.

The special movie has a title track featuring many B-town’s big celebrities together. The song titled Apna Bombay Talkies has Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan along with Vidya Balan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Rani Mukerji, Farhan Akhtar and Shahid Kapoor.

The song also has young actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Imran Khan, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor. Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Juhi Chawla and Karisma Kapoor also make their presence in the number.

20 singers have come together to lend their voices for the anthem, which has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.

Bombat Talkies, co-produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Flying Unicorn Entertainment, hits the theatres on 3rd May.
