Four youths held for Mumbai teen’s gang rape

Mumbai, April 27 (ANI): Four youths have been arrested by police in Mumbai for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

A teenaged girl has also arrested for taking the rape victim to one of the accused boy’s house.

The arrested would be produced in a magistrate’s court on Saturday.

The youths allegedly committed the gang rape under the influence of liquor.

Police in Mumbai’s Vakola area said the incident took place at the residence of Melvin D’Souza, one of the accused, at Gaondevi area in Santa Cruz in suburban Mumbai, on Thursday evening.

D’souza invited the victim through his 16-year-old friend at his residence for his birthday party.

Sachin Yadav, Bipin Singh and Venkat Naidu were already present at the residence of D’Souza and all are the residents of Santa Cruz.

Police said the accused consumed liquor while partying and after the victim lost her consciousness, they raped her.

After returning home, the raped girl complained to her mother of pain, and was immediately admitted to the V.N. Desai Hospital in Santa Cruz, where doctors confirmed the sexual assault.

“A case of gang rape has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act against all the accused,” said Police Inspector (Crime) of the Vakola police station, Jitendra Pawar.

The police are also investigating whether the victim’s drink was laced with any drugs to make her unconscious, which will be confirmed after the medical report. (ANI)
