Box office response : Aashiqui 2 opens with a bang

Mumbai, Apr 26 (): Aashiqui 2 starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and newcomer Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles, has opened with a bang at the Indian Box Office.

Aashiqui 2 is released today in more than 3000 screens across the country. The response on the opening day is superb as expected before and now experts say the collections might break previous Bollywood records of this year.

The movie has registered very good occupancy in both multiplexes and single screens in the morning show. Its response went stronger across various centres in noon shows. The business has witnessed an upward trend in mass-dominated centres.

In circuits like Mumbai, UP, East Punjab and Rajasthan, the opening has been excellent. The All-India average occupancy for the morning shows was around 40% while the matinee (noon) shows were running at 45-50%.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Aashiqui2 Delhi, Indore, Jaipur morning shows start with a bang!” He added, “Even in mass-dominated centres, the start of #Aashiqui2 is superb. Collections rising with each show!”

Today’s another release is Hollywood movie ‘Iron Man 3’, which is a great competitor to Aashiqui 2. Iron Man 3 is released in more than 1,000 screens and the Hollywood movie has also fetched a bumper opening in many urban centres. However, the first choice of the audience in mass-centres was Aashiqui 2.

Taran Adarsh writes “#Aashiqui2 and #IronMan3 are neck to neck. At some, A2 is leading, at some IM3. One of those rare Fridays when 2 films have opened well.”

Even though there are no big stars in Aashiqui 2, the opening day business of Aashiqui 2 is expected to be going good as well as more than expectations.

Produced by T-Series and Vishesh Films, Aashiqui 2 has been made on a budget of 11-12 crore (including P&A). The romantic musical drama movie is directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Bhusham Kumar and Krishan Kumar.
