The Kolkata franchise has been constantly losing in IPL 6 and could only achieve 2 wins till date securing four points. Kings XI Punjab too displays a poor form this IPL, but, they have won more matches than KKR in IPL 6. KXIP have won four matches securing eight points.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Kolkata Knight Riders is desperately in need to win this match against Kings XI Punjab here on Friday, in order to recover their fortunes in the IPL 6.

Knight Riders may miss the injured players Jacques Kallis (twisted right knee), Laxmi Ratan Shukla (ligament tear) and Manoj Tiwary (split webbing).

Instead of these players, explosive Kiwi batsman Brendon McCullum may be included in the team, while Manvinder Bisla and Mohammad Shami Ahmed will certainly be in the spotlight.

The coming match against KXIP might work as a turning point for the KKR team as the players now can be hoped to struggle hard for the Top 4 status in IPL 6. Moreover, they have the support by the ever-encouraging Eden Gardens crowd whose cheers have always inspired the players to give out their best in the home ground.

Kings XI Punjab:

Kings XI’s biggest worry is the form of Adam Gilchrist. The 41-year-old Gilchrist, IPL`s oldest player, has been a big failure with the bat with knocks of 15, 9, 0, 7, 26, 4 and 6 in his last seven outings.

Hussey would be a better option for KXIP to lead the side in place of Gilchrist, and it will also lend the much-needed balance to the Punjab team. A win against KKR for Punjab would boost their chances for the playoffs.
