Bangalore, Apr 17 (ANI): At least 16 people, including eight cops were injured in a blast that took place outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Cars parked at the office in the Malleswaram area of Bangalore, a crowded residential neighbourhood, were gutted in the blast.
Bangalore Police said that the bomb was placed on a bike.
“Initially, we were told it was a cylinder explosion, but we feel it was a motorcycle blast. Two are critically injured,” said Bangalore’s Police Commissioner Raghvendra H Auradkar.
The injured have been taken to the KC General hospital.
According to certain media reports, National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials have reached the spot and are closely monitoring the situation.
BJP Vice-President Balbir Punj has condemned the blast.
“One only hope is that it is an accident and not an act by terrorists or political activists,” he said.
The blast has taken place just weeks before Karnataka goes for assembly polls. (ANI)
