IPL 6 April 4 match: Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Mumbai Indians by 2 runs

Bangalore, Apr 5 (): In the second match of the IPL 6 between Mumbai Indians(MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) held at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore, Royal Challengers Bangalore have defeated Mumbai Indians by two runs.

The match had a close finish. It is the first win for RCB over Mumbai Indians at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Chris Gayle, the big Jamaican left-hander has received the Man of the Match award for his blistering knock of 92 runs in just 58 balls with five sixes and 11 fours.

Ricky Ponting, captain of Mumbai Indians, won the toss and asked RCB to bat first.

Both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians have won six games each against each other out of twelve matches contested at the IPL.

Mumbai Indians restricted RCB batsmen and then grabbed a wicket. At 1-3, Bangalore captain Virat Kohli came in and set about increasing the hosts’ run rate, beating a four off his pads the very next delivery. Kohli was 24 off 14 before he was trapped lbw by Jasprit Bumrah in the fifth over.

The 33-year-old Jamaican opener smashed the attacks of Mumbai Indians from then on, concluding with five sixes and 11 fours as he anchored Bangalore’s innings.

When Mumbai batted, Ponting and Tendulkar made the fact that T20 was supposed to be a young man’s game.

While Ponting made a quiet 28 off 33 balls, Tendulkar was the aggressor among the duo scoring his 23 runs off just 19 balls with the help of four fours, two of which came of successive balls off Mutttiah Muralitharan’s opening over.
