Pranab Mukherjee,Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi greet people on Holi

New Delhi, Mar 27 (): Expressing hope that this year’s festival of colours -Holi will build up confidence and faith in the country and uphold unity and integrity among the people, President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Holi on Wednesday.

President Pranab Mukherjee in his greetings said that on the cheerful occasion of Holi, he would like to convey his good wishes and compliments to the people of the country that indicates the arrival of joy and hope to achieve things.

In a statement in Rashtrapati Bhawan, the President said that the multiple colours of Holi which is a sign of our diversity and multi-cultural tradition will strengthen faith in our cherished national values and lead to live in unity and peace among the countrymen.

Following President Pranab Mukherjee’s address to the nation, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his message said that Holi is a celebration of life and goodness which encourages the spirit of brotherhood and marks the arrival of spring, offering a new hope for the people of the country for a brighter future. The Prime Minister wished the festival to bring peace, happiness and prosperity to all.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi while conveying good wishes to the people on the festival said that Holi is a festival that has unique importance in our centuries-old cultural tradition that not only signifies the arrival of spring but also promotes communal harmony and brotherhood.  Sonia Gandhi conveyed warm greetings and extended good wishes to the people of the country on the occasion of Holi.

Conveying good wishes on the eve of Holi,Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar urged the people to make a determination to wipe out discrimination, intolerance and injustice that will most likely destroy the society. Holi, the festival of colours brings unlimited joy to us and reinforces our promises to the finer values of justice, said the speaker.
