Neon colours sparkled runway of Lakme Fashion Week

Mumbai, Mar 27 (ANI): Neon colours sparkled on the runway as models catwalk for ace designers on the finale of the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The show followed a theme of “Pop tints” which are a range of lip and nail paints by Lakme.

Speaking about her collection the fashion designer, Namrata Joshipura said it’s essentially based on the colour forecast trends for Lakme Absolute range.

“Summer resort for colour forecast trends, the statement which has popped in. So I took inspiration and I carried it forward in my collection,” said Joshipura.

Lakme Brand ambassador and Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor catwalked with perfect poise for Joshipura and brought down the curtain of Lakme Fashion Week.

Kapoor looked stunning in an orange pink shirt and long blingy palazzos with a pink jacket.

Kapoor said she was thrilled to be the showstopper and inspire budding designers to experiment with different styles.

“This is my third year here that I have walked for the Lakme Fashion Week. We are actors, thus we get stressed walking the ramp, and this time I don’t why we were even more stressed. Even though, this is like third time, it’s like coming home. But I don’t know, I suddenly felt comfortable then, just one second before the lights came on, I just suddenly felt very comfortable in my outfit. And I feel really happy that I can in a way inspire young designers,” said Kapoor.

The designer showcased a vibrant collection, which varied from fitted skirts, halter tops, miniskirts, net dresses with bright neon inners and formal coats with trousers.

The colours used for the collection made it even brighter with fluorescent shades of pink, green and orange.

Dressed in Joshipura’s smart outfits, the models walked with neon accessories like headgear and shades.

On the last day of the Lakme Fashion Week, fashion designer, Archana Kochhar’s collection ‘Mumbai Checkmate’, was in the limelight.

It took the audience on a journey of style and glamour as the show presented an array of silhouettes.

Taking forward her signature checks, Kochhar projected bold neon hues like poppy yellow, electric orange and bubblegum pink; complimenting the couture, models graced the runway adorning the elegant collection from Metro Shoes.

Kochhar told reporters that she had made an attempt to capture the elements from the Mumbai city into her collection.

“So the collection that I showcased today was entitled Mumbai checkmate and as the name suggests it was inspired by Mumbai, my very own lovely city and we also took our signature checks forward in this line. So there were a lot of checks happening and a lot of elements from Mumbai happening, elements like buses, elements like the skyline of Mumbai,” said Kochhar.

Actors Shazahn Padamsee and Prabhu Deva were the showstoppers.

The fashion week saw the participation from various Bollywood celebrities and renowned designers.
