Chennai, Mar 21 () : Save Tamils Movement, a forum of IT professionals based in Chennai with members and volunteers belonging to reputed MNCs got together for a human chain protest against Sri Lanka and its genocide in Chennai’s IT corridor outside Tidel Park yesterday.
SA Elangovan, spokesperson of Save Tamils Movement had told The Hindu that the response from his IT counterparts was overwhelming and over 2000 people had joined in the protest.
Interestingly, autorickshaw drivers too lent their time and support for the human chain protest to show their solidarity for the cause of Eelam Tamils.
Save Tamils Movement had distributed placards and banners that were held by the protesters.One of the banners showed the image of LTTE supremo Prabhakaran’s young son Balachandran just before he was shot dead by the genocidal Sri Lankan Army.
Save Tamils Movement demands including a referendum for a separate Eelam for the Sri Lankan Tamils,urging India to support it, imposing economic sanctions against Sri Lanka and urging for independent international investigation into the genocidal crimes of Mahinda Rajapkse regime.
Another catchy banner held by the protesters said ‘their protest did not end but is just the beginning.”
