Chennai, Feb 9 (): Vishwaroopam produced, written and directed by actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, was released on February 7 in over 600 theatres in Tamil Nadu. As per reports said in India Today, the movie has raked in 5.81 crore on the opening day in Tamil Nadu.
Trade analyst Trinath said, “Since the movie opened in theatres on Thursday, the weekend collection is expected to increase.” Analysts further predict that the buyers will be getting a good collection in the weekend too with Vishwaroopam turning out to be a hit across all centres.
The movie’s Hindi version, Vishwaroop, released in North India on February 1. It collected 11.55 crore in its opening weekend, said trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
But, Vishwaroopam had a worldwide release a couple of weeks before the Tamil version and the overseas collections are also very impressive.
Vishwaroopam co-produced, written and directed by Kamal Haasan, has Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Jaideep Ahlawat, Shekhar Kapur, and Rahul Bose in important roles. The spy thriller narrates the story of a Muslim Indian agent living in the US in disguise, on a secret assignment to stop a probable terror attack.
The movie made at a budget of 95 crore was originally scheduled to release in Tamil and Telugu on January 25 but it was banned by the TN state government following protests by the Muslim groups. The ban was later lifted and the film was subsequently released on February 7 in TN.
Meanwhile Kamal Haasan held a press conference at Tan Banjara in Hyderabad on Friday to express his gratitude to all those who supported him during the crisis.
And also, Vishwaroopam has managed to get 9.5 out of 10 in IMDB. It is not very often that Tamil films get listed among the best in IMDB. The film also has a chance that it can be listed as the best amongst the top 250 movies of the world.
