Chennai, Feb 5 (): Actor and director Kamal Hassan has released an emotional video statement to media, on the release of his controversial spy thriller Vishwaroopam which is to be released in theatres this Thursday, February 7.
Actor Kamal Hassan in his statement said :
“After surmounting many barriers and barricades Vishwaroopam is finally set to release on February 7th in Tamil Nadu. I profusely thank the honourable chief minister of Tamil Nadu for her speedier justice. Above all, am grateful to the people of Tamil Nadu and the people of India at large. Many peers in the industry in Tamil Nadu also reached out to inquire.
My fraternity, throughout the country raised their voices in my defence, am deeply touched and grateful to them. The media fought for my freedom as if it were theirs at stake. Probably it is so. Nevertheless, the time they spent on my small cause and the warmth they imparted strengthened me.
I was angered and hurt by this injustice. I stood stoic through all the troubles, but what broke me into an emotional pulp is the sight of many money orders, currency notes and bank cheques sent to me in envelopes by my admirers who have been tied over this crisis. I would be returning all of this to the respective senders; please do not take offence, I have safeguarded your addresses.
In case politics and religion again hound me to take refuge elsewhere, I know I have safe homes to feed me and keep me throughout Tamil Nadu, maybe India. Wherever I go or live, my permanent abode and address will always be your kind minds.
Last but not the least, to you all my fans and admirers, I owe you a salute. You respected my request as if it were a command and maintained peace and harmony in spite of provocation. The height of valour is non-violence and you were its true valorous soldiers. Tamil Nadu will remember you in its history of harmony. The real Vishwaroopam according to me is the overwhelming support from the people. I offer my small work of art in their honour.”
