David – Tamil and Hindi preview

Chennai, Jan 30 (): Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, David is a Tamil action-thriller film starring Vikram and Jiiva in the titular roles, along with Tabu, Isha Sharvani, Lara Dutta, Nassar and Sarika.

The movie is also made in Hindi with little alteration, but with the same title. Hindi version, David features Vikram, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Vinay Virmani in the titular roles, along with the same female stars Tabu, Lara Dutta and Isha Sharvani and was simultaneously shot in Hindi. Vinay Virmani plays Jiiva’s role and Neil Nitin Mukesh does an extra character.

The movie has really a great concept. The plot revolves around the lives of two men with two different positions but called by the same name, David. They wish to take a step which is going to change their lives forever.

To say in detail, two Davids are living in different years in different worlds. One David is living in the year of 1999 Mumbai as 19 year old David; he is a musician born in a devout Christian family. His family was moved away by some political issue.

The next David is living in the year of 2010 Goa – 30-year-old David; he is one of the fishermen, and is living in a village called  Betul in Goa. 30-year-old David is loving a deaf and mute girl Roma. But, she is engaged to his best friend Peter. Both Davids try to change their lives which is the remaining story of the movie.

It looks like the Hindi version David has another David character, who is living in the year 1975 in London, where he works for Iqbal Ghani, a dreaded Mafia don who controls the entire Asian community.

Music for the movie is composed by six different musicians including Prashant Pillai and independent bands such as Maatibaani, Modern Mafia, Bramfatura and Remo Fernandes for 9 tracks. Anirudh Ravichandran-Kolaveri Di fame music composer has also contributed to the track list.

‘David’ was shot in Mangalore and Mumbai, among other locations.

Editing for the movie is done by A. Sreekar Prasad, while the cinematography, which reports say is really great, is done by R. Rathnavelu, P. S. Vinod and Sanu Varghese.

David yesterday passed the censor formalities and has been awarded a U/A certificate by the censor board. Initially, David was scheduled to release on February 1 along with Mani Ratnam’s Kadal.

Recent reports say the movie is postponed to February 15.
