Chennai, Jan 29 (): Kadal, the upcoming movie of ace director Mani Ratnam is a bi-lingual romantic movie, made in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. In Tamil, the movie is named “Kadal” and in Telugu,it is “Kadali”. This Mani Ratnam’s movie is releasing with much anticipation this weekend on February 1, 2013.
Kadal movie is set in the rural backdrop of fishermen’s lives interlaced with a love story. Yesteryear hero Karthik’s son Gautham Karthik and Tulasi Nair, younger daughter of yesteryear actress Radha will make their debut in this film. The movie is set in the coastal regions of Rameshwaram.
Arvind Samy is appearing in Kadal after a very long time. He has worked with Mani Ratnam in super hit movies like Bombay and Roja and in his comeback after a long break, he plays a priest and Godfather of Gautham in the film. Pasupathy, Thambi Ramaiah, Action King Arjun, Ponvannan and Lakshmi Manchu are playing supporting roles.
Music by AR Rahman is one of the major highlights of the movie. As soon as the album was released on December 15 by Sony Music, it immediately started leading the charts. ‘Nenjukulle’ song was released on YouTube as a teaser prior to the audio launch and the number became viral setting a good platform and predecessor for the release of the album.
Mani Ratnam and popular writer Jeya Mohan have teamed up for the first time. Jeya Mohan has written the story, dialogues and additional screenplay with Mani Ratnam in Kadal. Reports say Jeya Mohan has taken special efforts to frame the story in a different manner for this latest flick of Mani Ratnam and the story and dialogues are the strong points of the movie.
Kadal is produced by Mani Ratnam for his Madras Talkies, while the cinematography is handled by Rajiv Menon and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
