Mumbai, Jan 24 (): Abbas-Mustan’s multi-starrer and big-budget movie “Race 2” is all set to hit the screens on January 25 along with its contender film “Akaash Vani”.
However, Abhishek Pathak who is the film’s producer and Luv Ranjan its director decided to place their film directly against “Race 2”.
“Akaash Vani” was earlier scheduled to release on January 18 along with Arjun Rampal and Chitrangada Singh starrer “Inkaar” and avoid its clash with action thriller movie of Saif Ali Khan’s “Race 2”. However, the makers of Akaash Vani – producer Abhishek Pathak and director Luv Ranjan – finally decided to release their movie along with Race 2 as they have thought their movie would be capable of taking on the likes of “Race 2” as well.
“Race 2” is multi starrer movie, with top-class actors such as Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandes. Bipasha Basu does the cameo role in the movie. She will reappear as Sonia from the prequel “Race”. Race was a hugely successful movie and expectation for the sequel is also running very high.
On the other hand, “Akaash Vani” star cast includes Nushrat Bharucha and Kartik Tiwari. They both have earlier appeared in “Pyar ka Punchnama”, a successful movie at box-office. Director Luv Ranjan said that they wanted to release the movie with ‘Race 2’ as they wanted to use the three-day long weekend – Eid on January 25 , Republic Day on January 26 and Sunday on January 27.
He added that they were very confident about their film. If as a viewer there is a choice between ‘Race 2’ and ‘Akaash Vani’, he said he would like to see ‘Akaash Vani’ first. Previously, he had released his ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ against the ‘Pirates’ franchise.
The other film that releases on the same date is a 3D- animation film for children “Main Krishna Hoon”.
