Vishwaroopam : Advance ticket booking fabulous

Chennai, Jan 22 (): Advance ticket booking for the much hyped Kamal Hassan’s prestigious venture Vishwaroopam started on January 20, Sunday at some multiplexes in Chennai. The response for the movie is fabulous.

Release of Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam is pushed to January 25, from its previously announced release date, January 10, due to the controversy that rose over Kamal’s plan of releasing the film in DTH (Direct to Home) platform first, before the theatrical release.

Vishwaroopam, the action-thriller has received a lot of expectations from the day Kamal announced his plans about the movie. The big star cast, grand production, high budget, promotions and usage of highly technical elements in the movie have created more expectations about the movie.

Earlier, Kamal’s innovative idea of releasing the movie in DTH platform first made the theatre owners and distributors to boycott the movie’s release on January 10. Then, the movie received negative feedbacks for cancelling the DTH premiere plans. The movie has been talked about since then for various reasons.

As soon as the advance ticket booking started on Sunday, great response was seen for the movie. Reports say tickets for all the shows for the first weekend have been sold out within few hours of opening the counter. Abirami Cinemas was the first one to open online ticket booking and it witnessed the ticket selling in a great pace.

Vishwaroopam releases on a three-day long holiday weekend. January 25th and January 26th are government holidays for Miladi Nabi and Republic day respectively and January 27th is a Sunday. So, tickets for the evening shows on the release day and the weekends were in huge demand.

Reports say Kama’s fans have asked theatre owners to add some more shows in the first weekend to meet the huge demand. After seeing the tremendous response, Satyam Cinemas is planning to add one more screen in the first three days.

Vishwaroopam releases in about 400 screens in Tamil Nadu of which 12 screens will have 3D audio. Tamil and Telugu version of Vishwaroopam releases on January 25, while the Hindi version Vishwaroop has been pushed to February 1.
