Wellington coach says Ryder ready for Kiwi comeback only if atmosphere is right

Wellington, Jan 17(ANI): Wellington Firebirds coach Jamie Siddons has claimed Jesse Ryder is ready for a return in the New Zealand team but only if the atmosphere in the dressing room is right and suits him.

Ryder’s red-hot domestic form, along with New Zealand’s struggles in South Africa, mean calls for the blockbusting left-hander to make himself available for international cricket grow louder by the day, Stuff.co.nz reports.

Ryder, who has scored 508 runs at 63.50 for Wellington this season, indicated in a radio interview on Wednesday that he might be ready to play for the Black Caps as soon as the coming home series with England, having declined to be considered for selection since February last year, it further reported.

Siddons claimed he has seen enough to convince him Ryder could step back into international one-day and Twenty20 cricket now, but with a caveat.

Siddons said if the environment in the Kiwi dressing room is fine, Ryder would be ready to come back, adding the-handed batsman’s suitable environment is generally different from that of other players.

The Australian said Ryder is only comfortable with a team where the atmosphere is comfortable to him, else he doesn’t stay the same player.

Siddons said Ryder’s comeback in the national team would depend on how much the team is ready to take care of him, adding they must because he can be an important player for them. (ANI)
