Pune, Dec 24 (): Two well-known Marathi actors Anand Abhyankar and Akshay Pendse were among three people killed when their car met with an accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway early Monday, police said.
Abhyankar, 48, and Pendse, 35, were seen together in the roles of father and son in the ongoing teleserial ‘Mala Sasu Havi’ on Zee Marathi.
TV actor Anand Abhyankar, was returning to Mumbai in a Maruthi WagonR, after attending the shooting of Mala Sasu Havi, along with his co-star Akshay Pendse, his wife, Deepti and two-year-old son Pratyush.
When they were on their way to Mumbai on Sunday night, their car collided with a Pune-bound tempo, lost control and crashed into the lane divider near the Urse Toll check post, the police said.
The seriously injured victims were rushed to a hospital in Nigdi, a suburb of Pune. Anand Abhyankar and Akshay Pendse were announced dead on the spot. Pratyush succumbed during the treatment at the hospital, where Deepti, who is also seriously injured, is undergoing treatment.
Anand Abhyankar is a familiar face in Borivali suburb of Mumbai where he lived. He had also worked in several Hindi movies, Marathi movies, advertising films and serials.
The popular Marathi actor entered industry through famous TV serial Vaastav: The Reality in 1999. Later, he had acted in more than 15 Hindi TV serials. Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain, Pappu Can’t Dance Saala and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah are few of the well-known serials in which he had acted.
Abhyankar had starred in several Marathi films like ‘Spandan’, ’Vastav’, ‘Pappa Sanga Kunache’, ’Matichya Chuli’, ’Balgandharva’ and also performed in play ‘Kurtyat Sada Tingalam’. The sudden death of Anand Abhyankar has shocked many TV viewrs.
Pendse has acted in a few movies including ‘Kai Dyayche Bola’.
