Asian Hockey Champions Trophy: India beat Oman 11-0, Malaysia held Pakistan to 3-3

Doha, Dec 24 (): Defending champion India dominated throughout the India-Oman match to register its third consecutive win in the Asian Hockey Championship Trophy played here on Sunday.  India trounced minnows Oman 11-0.

India took total control of the match from the beginning with an early lead in the 3rd minute by a field goal by SV Sunil. Dharamvir netted the second goal for India in 8th minute. Raghunath converted the penalty corner into goal on 30th minute followed by a field goal by Rupinder Singh in the 33rd minute. India took 4-0 lead in half way.

In another match, Malaysia held Pakistan 3-3. After winning Oman and China, Pakistan was held draw by Malaysia in their third match. For Pakistan, Waqas Sharif netted two goals and Mohammad Rizwan scored another goal. In the next match China beat Japan.

India had already won the first two matches beating China 4-0 and Japan 3-1. India will next meet Pakistan today.

The other matches scheduled today are : Japan to take on Oman and China to meet Malaysia. December 25th will be a rest day. India will face Malaysia on 26th and the other matches will be China – Oman and Pakistan – Japan.

The top two teams in the round robin league will meet in the finals on December 27. The other match scheduled on 27th December will be clash between third and fourth and fifth and sixth.

The six teams taking part in the tournament are India, Malaysia Pakistan, China, Oman and Japan.
