Andhra High Court dismisses Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s bail plea

Hyderabad, Dec. 24 (ANI): The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday dismissed the bail plea of YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case.

Jagan had earlier moved the high court contending that the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) had not filed a charge-sheet within the prescribed time.

The CBI had opposed the pleas and contended that the issue of statutory bail was argued at length in the Supreme Court and the accused now cannot raise this issue once again.

A special CBI court had dismissed Reddy’s statutory bail petition on November 28, observing that granting bail at this stage of the pending investigation will not only impede the investigation, but also infringe the avowed purpose set out by the Supreme Court in its order.

His second bail plea was also dismissed subsequently on December 4 after which he moved the high court and filed two bail petitions.

Jagan, who was arrested on May 27th this year by the CBI on corruption charges, is presently under judicial remand and lodged at the Chanchalguda Central Jail.

The central agency has so far filed four charge sheets against Jagan and others in as many cases. (ANI)
