Mumbai, Dec 23 (): Salman Khan’s “Dabangg 2″ opened very well as expected with packed cinema houses and the film has collected Rs 21.10 crore net at the domestic box office centres, as per the details got from the tweet of Taran Adarsh, trade analyst. He tweeted about the film’s collection, “#Dabangg2 *actuals* Fri 21.10 cr nett.”
He further said Salman’s Dabangg 2 could not cross first day’s business of his own film, Ek Tha Tiger, which collected 32 crore on its opening day August 15, India’s Independence Day, a national holiday. But the second day collection of ETT lowered so much to 14.55 crore, as it was a working day.
Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Dabangg2 1st day will be lower than #EkThaTiger 1st day [15 Aug holiday]. ETT Day 2 was much lower [14.55 cr], since it was a working day.”
However, Salman’s Dabangg 2, which is released on a non-holiday Friday, December 21, has managed to set another record, i.e. Highest Opener For a Non-holiday, by collecting 21.10 crore nett. The previous record for a non-holiday opening is 15.1 crore collected by Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore, which is closely followed by Aamir Khan’s Talaash with 14 crore.
“Dabangg 2,” has received tremendous response in North India. The film has recorded best collection figure on the opening day in most of the territories, particularly Rajasthan, Delhi/NCR, CI and CP, which may be a new record. Mumbai is well and good, while Tamil Nadu, Mysore and West Bengal saw decent crowds.
In Salman’s film career, this year proves to be a very good year, as he has already given a superhit ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Son of Sardaar’, in which he did a cameo appearance, which also became a super hit. Trade experts and distributors are expecting ‘Dabangg 2’ to achieve good commercial success and become a blockbuster film.
Film also performed well in overseas market collecting 7 cr on the opening day.
