Dabangg 2 opens to huge response at box office

Mumbai, Dec 22 (): Dabangg 2, a sequel movie to Salman Khan’s 2010 blockbuster Dabangg, has received a tremendous response at the domestic box office. The movie is being released aiming at Christmas and New Year holidays, but the movie opens on December 21, a non-holiday Friday.

Trade analysts say the movie directed by Arbaaz Khan will become the biggest opener on a non-holiday Friday at the domestic Box Office.

Taran Adrash, trade analyst on seeing the overwhelming response tweeted saying Akshay Kumar’s RowdyRathore, which was released on a non-Friday holiday, holds the record for being the biggest opener collecting 15.1 cr. Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 is expected to cross 20 cr +, might even touch 23-25 cr.

However, Dabangg 2 may not crash the opening day collection record of Salman’s Ek Tha Tiger, but may become the second biggest opener of all time by thrashing the record of Hirthik Roshan’s Agneepath, which has scored Rs 23 crores on its opening day.

Pre-booking was also very good for the movie in multiplexes as well as single screens. With its release yesterday, the film witnessed huge opening response all over India. Reports say few multiplexes are totally having 40 shows and almost 90% of the shows are dedicated only to Dabangg 2.

Advance booking reports say, in many places in India, all the theatres have said houseful till this Sunday. With this trend, the first weekend collection will be a bumper gift for the makers of Dabangg 2.

Apart from India, reports from abroad say the film witnessed huge response. So, experts say Dabangg 2 will get the biggest opening at overseas box office too.

Film reviews and the word of mouth say, Dabangg 2 is far better than its prequel Dabangg.

If Dabangg 2 gets the status of blockbuster hit at the box office, it will be Salman’s fifth hit in a row. The actor started his success journey at the box office with blockbuster ‘Wanted’, which remains uninterrupted and still going strong with blockbusters like Ready, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger.
