Once, Boppanna hears about Devagiri village, which is often attacked by a rogue elephant. Veeranna (Anantha Vaidyanathan), head of the village, decides to tame the rogue elephant, by a trained Kumki elephant.
Although his elephant Manikyam is not a Kumki elephant, Boppanna decides to take his elephant to Devagiri to rescue the village. He meets a village girl, Singi (Lakshmi Menon), daughter of the village head, with whom he falls in love. The rest of the story tells us whether Boppanna wins in his love and whether his elephant tames the rogue elephant.
Vikram Prabhu’s dedication and hard work are clearly visible on-screen, through his wonderful performance in his debut movie.
Lakshmi Menon shines well throughout the film, acting as an innocent village girl. Her combination with Vikram proves good.
Thambi Ramaiah, who won a National Award for his role in Mynaa, enriches the film by his hilarious performance.
Music composed by Imman is soothing, which adds foresty flavour to the movie.
Stunning cinematography by Sukumar makes Gajaraju a visual delight. The songs ‘Ayyayyo Anandame’ and ‘Kanne Sogasulu’ have been shot richly.
Prabhu Solomon, after his film Prema Khaidi, takes us for a green trip deep into the forest once again with his movie Gajaraju.
The movie shows the emotional bonding between a mahout and his elephant. The main highlight of the film is debutant actor Vikram Prabhu’s superb performance as a mahout.
