Mamata avoids commenting on Malik’s statement equating Babri demolition with 26/11

New Delhi, Dec 15 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday refused to comment on Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s remark comparing the Babri mosque demolition with the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, saying it would be appropriate for the External Affairs Ministry to reply on it.

“Every nation has some personal relations with the neighbouring country. We love all the countries. The External Affairs Ministry can say on this. It would not be right for me to comment on it,” she told mediapersons here.

Meanwhile, activist-turned politician Arvind Kejriwal said Malik’s comparison of the Mumbai attacks with Babri mosque demolition is not at all correct.

“Making a comparison of this kind is absolutely wrong,” he said.

The visiting Pakistani Minister invited a controversy by equating the Babri demolition incident with the Mumbai terror attack while speaking to reporters after the new visa agreement between India and Pakistan was operationalised last night here.

“We don’t want any 9/11, we don’t want any Mumbai bomb blast (attacks), we don’t want any Samjhauta Express blast and we don’t want Babri masjid issue,” he said.

Malik, however, concluded by saying that he wanted to work for peace between the two countries and in the entire region. (ANI)
