Box office collection : Khiladi 786 collects 38 crore worldwide on its first (opening) weekend

Mumbai, Dec 11 (): Khiladi 786 has made considerably good business at the worldwide box office in its opening weekend, raking in 38.25 crore as per reports given by the popular and reliable site boxoffice capsule. Though film did not jump in a way what makers would had expected yet it scored good numbers on Sunday.

Khiladi 786, directed by debutant director Ashish R Mohan and features Akshay Kumar and Asin in lead roles, is one of the most awaited releases of the year. The movie was released on December 7, in 2,786 screens across the country and it managed to draw in 90 per cent occupancy levels in single screens and only 60 per cent in multiplexes.

While the film received good reviews, it had a rather average opening at the box office collecting 10.10 crore on Friday, 11 crore on Saturday, 13.25 crore on Sunday. By collecting 3.90 crore at the overseas market, the total worldwide collections rounded up to 38.25 crore.

From the above collection status, we can conclude that the film made decent numbers on Friday and Saturday and the film saw an escalation on Sunday i.e. Day 3. And it means an average weekend for the film despite a good Sunday but such a big release was not justified by this score.

Trade analysts say 1st week collection is looking to finish at 46-48 cr nett and that means film will not cross 75 cr nett lifetime collections.

Amod Mehra, an experienced trade analysts say, “The film did not open as expected and while it was good in single screens, it was average in multiplexes. The second day was similar but it took a good jump on Sunday. The good part is that it has a clear week before Dabangg 2, which will help its box office collections”.

Akshay Kumar had a good and successful 2012. All his films released this year, ‘Rowdy Rathore, Housefull 2′ and his home production OMG!Oh My God had crossed 100 crore mark and we have to wait few days for the results of Khiladi 786.
