Box office collection : Talaash collects 48 crore on its first (opening) weekend

Mumbai, Dec 4 (): Aamir Khan’s ‘Talaash’ has done a very good business at the box-office on its opening weekend, raking in about 48 crore, as per reports given by boxoffice capsule site.

The movie opened with a promising occupancy on a non-holiday Friday. The film not only received good reviews from critics but also received thumbs-up from the audience.

Directed by Reema Kagti, the movie was released on a non-holiday Friday in 2500+ screens in India and 520 screens overseas.

‘Talaash’ collected 13.50 crore on Friday, 16.35 crore on Saturday and early reports said 18.00 crore on Sunday. Thus, the total domestic collections rounded up to 47.85 crore, reports boxoffice capsule site. With the fourth day collection on Monday, the domestic box office collection is expected to cross the 50 crore mark.

The film was expected to break Shahrukh Khan’s “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” first day collection at the domestic business centres, but it failed to do so. “Talaash” collected Rs 13.50 crore on its opening day, while “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” collected Rs 15.23 crore on the opening day in India.

Trade analysts say ‘Talaash’ did exceptionally well at the box-office on the first weekend. On Sunday morning, the occupancy at the multiplexes was 75%, which jumped to 85% in the evening and the night shows.

In single theatres, the occupancy was low compared to multiplexes but on Saturday it showed 15% more occupancy than Friday. A positive word of mouth for the movie Talaash spread like wildfire taking its collection upwards on Saturday. The suspense thriller showed 12% growth in its business on the second day.

Talaash is an interesting suspense thriller drama which stars Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles. Aamir and Reema have requested movie buffs who have watched the film not to reveal the suspense.
