New Delhi, Nov 26 (): Demanding for a discussion on the fresh controversy over the 2G spectrum allocation owing to the claim made by former CAG official RP Singh, the DMK today gave a notice to Speaker Meira Kumar in the Lok Sabha.
Intending to obtain support from BSP leader Mayawati, the government even moved the SC/ST Quota Bill in the upper house which the party has been waiting for long. Earlier the ruling government said that if key ally DMK brings forward a motion then it has no hesitation to initiate a discussion in Parliament on former CAG official’s statement on the controversial 2G spectrum allocations issue.
This comes in wake of the former CAG director General RP Singh’s claim that he signed on the final report showing a loss of Rs1.76 lakh crore on the instruction given by his superiors who gave a written order to him.
In an all-party meeting that is scheduled today at 1 pm, the government has planned to break the deadlock. Till now there is no comment on the issue from the ruling government on whether it will accept the opposition demand. Sources said the government is taking efforts by working overtime to gather enough numbers to defend against any threat in case of voting on the issue.
The DMK, the most affected political party which faced a number of problems, after the arrest of party supremo Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi and former Telecom Minister A Raja owing to the earlier report of the CAG on the 2G scam, submitted a notice to the speaker after the CAG official RP Singh claimed that the report and loss figure of Rs 1.76 lakh crore was given on the instructions by BJP MP Murli Manohar Joshi.
Meantime, the ruling government still finds difficulty in solving the problem as the DMK chief had stated in Chennai that his party will not probably favour the decision to permit FDI in retail.
