Mani Ratnam’s Kadal audio hits market on Nov 23

Chennai, Nov 22 (): Mani Ratnam’s much-anticipated movie Kadal’s audio album is ready to hit the stands. The audio will be released this Friday (November 23) directly in the market.

The director wanted to make the audio launch a low-key affair, so, he has planned to release the music album directly in the market. The music rights for the movie is bagged by Gemini audio. Vairamuthu and his son Madhan Karky have penned the lyrics while music for the film is composed by A.R. Rahman.

The soundtrack will have a total of 7 songs including Nenjukulle which has already taken the internet by storm. So far, only Nenjukulle has been presented to the audience through internet. An interesting part about the music is that director Mani Ratnam had worked only with music director AR Rahman and lyricist Vairamuthu for close to 21 years in over 10 films.

Kadal brings two young actors to the Tamil cinema – Gautham Karthik, yesteryear actor Karthik’s son and Thulasi Nair, former actress Radha’s daughter. Karthik and Radha did a super hit flick ‘Alaigal Oivathillai’ in their earlier days and also that movie marked the actors’ debut. So, considering their parents’ hit flick, Gautham Karthik and Thulasi Nair have lot of expectations on their shoulders even if it is their debut.

Another interesting fact is the film marks the comeback of Aravind Swamy. Lakshmi Manchu and Arjun Sarja will also be seen in important roles.

Kadal is said to be a love story set in a coastal village and narrates the life of fisherman and prevailing tension when they go missing in the high seas. Kadal has been shot mostly in the regions of South Tamil Nadu and Andaman island.

Mani Ratnam has written the story, dialogue and screenplay and is producing the film under his own production house ‘Madras Talkies’. The movie is expected to hit the screens by the end of this year or early 2013.
