Chennai, Nov 20 (): After receiving good word of mouth, rave reviews from film critics and a tremendous response from the audience for his recent Diwali release movie ‘Thuppakki’, Vijay took an opportunity to thank the whole team, who worked for its success.
Ilayathalapathy threw a grand success party in his house on Sunday night for the whole team of “Thuppakki” and he did not miss to give a special invitation to Vidyut Jamwal, the antagonist of the movie. The 31-year-old martial artist accepted the invitation of Vijay with great respect and he flew down to the city on Sunday night to attend the party.
Madan Karky tweeted on his Twitter page last night “Hearty thanks to actor Vijay & Mrs. Vijay for being splendid hosts in tonight’s #thuppakki success party. Happy to meet the team.”
The whole team of Thuppakki, including director Murugadoss and producer Thanu joined the success party of the film.
Meanwhile, the movie has raked in wonderful collections in its first weekend of release at Tamilnadu Box Office. Thuppakki opened to a rocking response at the box office collection centres garnering about 11.03 crores on the release day. Trade analysts say, this is the biggest opening for any movie in Tamil Nadu and Kerala after Rajinikanth and Shankar’s “Enthiran”.
In the first three days, the movie raked in about Rs 22.25 crore. As the film has got an ‘U’ certificate, it has been exempted from the entertainment tax of 30%.
Thuppakki has done wonders not only in Tamil Nadu but also in the overseas market. Especially, the movie has witnessed a great response in UK, where the collection has touched close to one crore.
After seeing the massive response to the movie, the film is ready for remake in Hindi with Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles.
