Box office report : Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ), Son of Sardaar (SOS) may join 100 crore club

Mumbai, Nov 15 (): This year’s mega Diwali release Bollywood movies Yash chopra’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ (JTHJ) and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Son of Sardaar’ (SOS) had a grand opening on Diwali. Seeing the opening day collections, trade analysts predict that both the movies would join the 100 crore mark in the box office.

After 12 years, two major films released on the same day have seen very great response from the audiences. In 2000, Lagaan and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, both the movies hit the screens on the same day and became blockbusters.

For this Diwali, the same has happened with JTHJ and SOS. Earlier, Yash Raj Films and Ajay Devgn films battled before the release of the movies, over the screening of films. In spite of all the battle held, it is learnt that both films opened excellently.

JTHJ saw 70% occupancy at multiplexes, while occupancy for Son of Sardaar stood at 60-65%. However, Son of Sardaar is ruling in mass centres.

Taran Adarsh, trade analyst said both SOS and JTHJ are running neck to neck. In some places SOS is ahead, while in others JTHJ is ahead. So, this year turns to be the joyous Diwali ever.

He further tweeted, SOS is ahead in mass circuits and JTHJ takes lead at multiplexes. The early report trends say that in India, JTHJ is leading SOS. But, both the movies are considered to be the winners at box-office. With JTHJ and SOS, Bollywood is witnessing this Diwali as the best and biggest and the business too will be the biggest ever.

Ashish Saxena, CEO of a major multiplex, Big Cinemas reported that the advance ticket booking for the films were good and the same was seen on the opening day. Further, the JTHJ and SOS are looking to a big week ahead. Usually, only one movie used to give good results during the Diwali week, but this year remains to be an exceptional case when both the films have taken off well.

Final verdict of the movies, whether it is a hit or miss will be known by Friday, but experts do feel that both the films have a potential to make over Rs 100 crore at the box-office.
