Box office prediction : Shahrukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) vs Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger (ETT)

Mumbai, Nov 6 (): The biggest box office grosser so far in 2012, Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (ETT) has collected more than Rs 200 crores at the box office. ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ also set a new record by releasing in about 1700 screens in India.

Now, Yash Chopra’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ – JTHJ featuring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma is set to release on Diwali day, November 13, 2012. The makers said the movie will be released across India in 1500 screens. So, comparing JTHJ with ETT in terms of number of screens it is likely to be released in, JTHJ has already lost its first battle.

ETT was released on Independence Day, August 15, 2012 and the movie also took the benefits of the extended holiday due to Eid. The films that were released after ETT, ‘Joker’ and ‘Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi’ were also not very impressive. Therefore, ETT got sufficient time to entertain the audiences.

But, JTHJ has to clash with ‘Son of Sardaar’ starring Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt at box office. In the meantime, Ajay Devgn denied to change SOS’s release date and has filed a legal notice to YRF team saying that they were planning to manipulate the distributors. While, Ajay Devgn’s previous movie ‘Bol Bachchan’ was released in 1200 screens, SOS is struggling to take even 400 screens.

So, SRK’s JTHJ will do definitely good and Bollywood fans always love the action and comedy of SRK.

Salman Khan’s movies like ‘Wanted’, ‘Bodyguard’, ‘Ready’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ have conveniently entered the 100-crore club. But, in the past few years Shahrukh Khan’s movies have not done up to the mark. His films ‘Billu’, ‘Ra.One’ and ‘Don 2′, received mixed reviews at box office. Hope, SRK does not disappoint his fans now.

At the same time, Salman Khan has done an item song for ‘SOS’ to grab the fans’ attention.

The next biggest strength of JTHJ is it is Yash Chopra’s last directorial film, who passed away last month. More people will definitely wish to see the movie for Yashji.

We have to wait for a few more days to see who wins the final battle!
