Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray’s health worsens

Mumbai, Nov 2 ():In the midst of reports of party supremo Bal Thackeray’s worsening health,  Shiv Sena working president Uddhav Thackeray, conducted a meeting with his party MPs and MLAs today which was anticipated  to be held owing to the health condition of the eighty-six year old party chief Bal Thackeray.

Earlier Thackeray, who was said to be keeping bad health, addressed his party workers through a recorded video message seeking support to his son Uddhav and grandson Aditya.

“My health is in a bad condition, I am not able to walk. Now I am tired and I cannot work any more for the welfare of the party,” said the Sena chief.

On Thursday, Senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal met Bal Thackeray to enquire about his health a few hours after MNS president and Thackeray’s nephew Raj Thackeray and his wife Sharmila visited the Sena chief in his ‘Matoshree’ residence which is situated in the suburban Bandra, said party workers.

Sources said Bhubal who met Bal Thackeray could not speak with the Sena chief but had a discussion for over 30 minutes with his son Uddhav Thackeray.

Bal Thackeray who founded the Shiv Sena in 1966, keeping in mind his old age made his son the next Sena Chief which created a split in the party after Raj Thackeray formed his own political party Mumbai Navin Nirman (MNS) in 2006.

On Thursday, the MNS chief met his uncle Bal Thackeray for the fourth time in a month after his health deteriorated, raising speculations whether the MNS would work together with the  Shiv Sena in the upcoming election in 2014.

Raj Thackeray who broke ties with the Shiv Sena in 2006 after Uddhav was appointed as the next Sena chief, maintained once again his relationship with Uddhav and Bal Thackeray when Uddhav was admitted in the hospital with heart problems in July.
