Bigg Boss 6: Activists attack Colors TV office, demand elimination of Aseem Trivedi

Mumbai, Nov 2 (): Bigg Boss 6 witnessed controversy yesterday as suspected activists of RPI attacked the Colors TV channel office, demanding them to eliminate the controversial contestant, cartoonist Aseem Trivedi from the reality show.

Aseem Trivedi, 25-year-old cartoonist, whose agitation charges were put down by Maharashtra government after his arrest recently, debuted on the famous show Bigg Boss’s sixth season.

Republican Party of India (RPI) led by Ramdas Athavale objected to Trivedi’s participation. They said Trivedi had “hurt sentiments” of Dalit community by presenting cartoons that “grossly insulted” our national emblem and constitutional symbols.

Namdev Chavan, Deputy Police Commissioner said two persons, supposed to be the RPI activists, arrived on a motorbike and one activist pelted stones at Colors TV channel office on Thursday afternoon.

Police suspected that the suspect wanted to cause destruction to the TV channel’s property as it didn’t pay attention to the demand of the party to evict the cartoonist. When asked why they pelted at the Colors TV office, Mayur Borkar, the party spokesman said: “We wanted to give a preview to the makers, what could be done when Aseem isn’t evicted from Bigg Boss house?”

Borkar earlier had said that Trivedi was not known until he targeted several Indian symbols like the Ashok Chakra, tricolour, parliament and constitution. But, the channel has nominated Trivedi for eviction this week, along with Sampat Pal-the leader of Gulab Gang leader and Sapna Bhavnani – celebrity hairstylist.

Day before yesterday, model Karishma Kotak, who was also nominated for this week’s eviction, left Bigg Boss house after her father’s sudden demise, after staying in the house for nearly four weeks. The day before, she was given information about the health of her father and given option either to leave the house or stay at the house. Karishma opted for leaving the house.

Bigg Boss 6 show started with totally 15 contestants, and until now three contestants — Dinesh Yadav -Bhojpuri actor, Kashif Qureshi – common man and Sayantani Ghosh – actress — have already been evicted out, considering the votes by viewers. Sources said there will be two evictions in the episode to be aired on Friday.
