Chennai, Oct 26 (): Motivating the police force, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today has initiated a grand housing scheme to the law enforcers as part of the AIADMK government’s determination to grant housing units to all the men in khaki.
Jayalalithaa said that the proposal will make sure that all the men in khaki are provided with their own houses to live both during service period and after retirement. The scheme has been arranged at Melakottaiyoor in Kancheepuram district with 2,673 multi-storied housing apartments under the system of ‘Own Your House’ scheme, said the chief minister while laying the foundation stone for building the structure.
“In order to bestow the housing units to the police force, the AIADMK government has taken the major and most important decision,” said Jayalalithaa. Out of the total 1, 12,363 police personnel in Tamil Nadu, accommodation provision was approved to 50,424 police men. Apart from this construction work is under process for 7,526 housing units, added the chief minister.
The AIADMK supremo also said that former Tamil Nadu chief minister and her political guru M G Ramachandran had already launched the Housing Corporation for the police department in the year 1981 in which well -built houses for police personnel were constructed.
“After the former chief minister’s death, the scheme was withdrawn due to the change in the government. The proposal once again has been invigorated after the AIADMK came to power in 1991,” admitted J Jayalalithaa.
It is a dream come true to own a house that has been kept pending these days for the men in uniform that was on the edge of being recognized as Housing Corporation of Tamil Nadu Police which would likely build houses for the police department at a reasonable cost.
Criticizing the previous government whose number of leaders were convicted in land grabbing cases, Jayalalithaa said that it was a reward by her government to the police department who had helped the people in their fight, whose lands were seized by the DMK leaders.
