Chennai, Oct 25 (): Surya-Gautham Menon’s next flick Thuppariyum Anandhan, a period movie in contemporary style appears to hit the floors at the earliest. Reports say that this delayed project will be launched in January 2013.
‘Thuppariyum Anandhan’ is an action adventure. Sources say Surya has plans of starting the movie soon after he completes his forthcoming film Singam 2.
As reported earlier, Gautham Menon project Yohan: Adhyayan Ondru featuring Vijay in lead role has been abandoned. Now, the director is busy with another film Neethanae En Ponvasantham featuring Jiiva and Samantha in the lead roles. Once he finishes this film, Gautham wishes to start ‘Thuppariyum Anandhan’ in early 2013. The director is yet to finalize the other cast and crew of the film.
Initially, Thuppariyum Anandhan was offered to Ajith. He showed interest in the movie in the initial stages, but later lost interest and skipped the project. Gautham Menon then offered the project to Surya, with whom he had worked earlier in films, Vaaranam Aayiram and Kaakha Kaakha. Surya accepted the offer.
The movie is a detective-thriller set in 80s and the thriller revolves around an investigator detecting a series of murders. The treatment of the film will make it different from other period flicks, the filmmaker has announced.
Gautham and Suriya pair has always created magic on-screen in their earlier works like ‘Kaaka Kaaka’ and ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’. Surya said when Gautham and himself join together, the viewers expect romance, action and great songs. He also promised Thuppariyum Anandhan will offer all these elements in immense style.
With Suriya playing the lead role, the director has plans of bringing back late James Bond of Tamil movies, Jai Shankar on silver screens. He may either use some scenes from Jai Shankar’s old films or may use computer graphics.
